Additional Support for Exams
ACCA is committed to ensuring that no student is disadvantaged in their examinations due to a special educational need, disability, or temporary injury. To achieve this, we provide special access arrangements in line with the UK Equality Act 2010, which requires reasonable adjustments where a candidate would otherwise be at a substantial disadvantage.
What is a reasonable adjustment
Adjustments must not compromise the integrity of the exam or involve unreasonable costs or timeframes. For example, changing a computer-based exam to paper format would not be considered reasonable, as it alters the assessment criteria.
How to apply
Submit your request via the Additional Support portal on MyACCA, along with up-to-date and relevant documentation such as:
A headed letter signed and dated by your GP or hospital
Maternity Notes or Maternity Certificate
Certificate of Registration on your local council’s register of Blind or Partially Sighted people
Psychological or Diagnostic Assessment Report
Your documentation must include:
Your diagnosis
Whether the condition is short or long term
Recommendations for exam support
Important:
Do not upload Word documents (they are not secure)
We cannot accept medication lists, fit notes, or prescriptions as evidence
Access arrangement requests must generally be submitted to ACCA by the standard entry closing date although there are some instances where a request is needed earlier
