Eligibility criteria
 

If you are a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (CPA), you can apply for ACCA membership if you meet the following criteria:
 

  • Completion of the CPA qualifying programme, including all examination and practical experience requirements.
  • OR membership of CPA Canada through one of its legacy bodies with all examination, experience and practical requirements met,
    • Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (CICA)
    • Certified General Accountants of Canada (CGA Canada)
    • Society of Management Accountants of Canada (CMA Canada)
  • Completion of ACCA’s Corporate and Business Law (LW) and Taxation (TX) exams (UK variants), or equivalent tax and law courses from a recognised UK institution.
  • Confirmation from ACCA’s Admissions and Licensing Committee that your character and professional suitability align with our ethical standards.

Supporting documentation

With your application, you must provide the following documentation:

 

  • A letter of good standing (no older than two months) from CPA confirming:
    • Completion of the CPA qualifying programme.
    • Or fulfilment of the examination and experience requirements of a legacy body, plus satisfaction of CPA Canada practical experience requirements.
  • Evidence of tax and law competency:
    • Confirmation of completion of ACCA’s TX and LW exams, or acceptable tax and law courses from a recognised UK institution.
