You’ll study with your learning provider while gaining practical experience in your role with your employer.
The assessments begin with on-programme exams, then you can complete the end point assessment once you’ve completed at least 12 months of training, and your employer confirms you’re ready.
To confirm your eligibility to sit the end point assessment, you must submit the Gateway Access Form signed by your employer.
On-programme exams
The on-programme exams are taken during the apprenticeship, before the final end-point assessment. They form part of the training and progression towards the qualification. They’re completed throughout the apprenticeship with support from the learning provider.
End point assessment (EPA)
The end point assessment (EPA) is the final step in your apprenticeship journey. It’s a comprehensive evaluation that checks whether you’ve met the required standards to successfully complete your apprenticeship.
Each apprenticeship level (Level 4 and Level 7) has its own EPA, but both include a formal exam, and a written submission that is completed outside of exam conditions.
Level 4 on-programme exams
In a level 4 apprenticeship, you'll complete the following exams:
- Applied Knowledge exams:
- Foundations in Business Technology
- Foundations in Management Accounting
- Foundations in Financial Accounting
Level 4 end point assessment
In a level 4 apprenticeship, you'll complete the following assessments:
Level 7 on-programme exams
In a level 7 apprenticeship, you'll complete the following exams:
- Applied Knowledge
- Applied Skills
- Strategic Professional exams (minus SBL, as this is part of the EPA)
Level 7 end point assessment
In a level 7 apprenticeship, you'll complete the following assessments:
The SBL exam is available to sit in any of our exam sessions throughout the year. The TRS exam is currently only available to sit in June or December.
Once your apprenticeship is complete, ACCA shares the results with the Education & Skills Funding Agency (ESFA), who issues the official apprenticeship certificate.
